Emergency Ventilation Machine
- Noninvasive ventilation machine for COVID-19 patients
- Inspirium & Expirium Filtration
- Simple and low-cost design
- Disposable parts for a single patient use
- Suitable for rapid mass production
- Real-time inhale/exhale detection
- Pressure regulation between 2-30 cmH2O
- Suitable for enriched air flows of 20-30 LPM
- Continuous operation lifetime of 3 months
- Includes malfunction alerts and a mandatory respiration mode
Manshema
The MANSHEMA ventilation machine is connected to Air and Oxygen inlets on one end and a breathing circuit on the other
Low EPAP pressure is determined by a mechanical PEEP valve
Flow and O2 enrichment levels are determined by mechanical flowmeters
The system starts its operation in learning mode where it detects the patient’s inhale/exhale pressure levels
EPAP and IPAP pressure triggers are then determined (triggers and pressure can be adjusted manually)
An electrically-controlled-mechanical-valve opens and closes the exhaust to allow real-time inhale and exhale
If the patient stops breathing alerts are triggered and the system automatically enters a mandatory respiration mode
- Designed for Covid-19 patients
- Made in Israel

MANSHEMA is a flow driven, electronically controlled ventilation system. The system assists the patient to breath by providing a Bi-level Positive Pressure (BiPAP). The system maintains a positive pressure at all times to assist in cases of respiratory distress (such as in ARDS). Both exhalation and inhalation pressures can be adjusted by the medical staff
The system operates in a spontaneous or a mandatory timed mode.
In power shutdown, the system enters a CPAP mode. This means that enriched air continues to flow to the patient.
- The algorithm continuously learns the respiratory rate of the patient, allowing it to adapt the pressures and trigger alarms automatically. Adjustments can be made later by the medical staff

About
A team of volunteers grouped together to develop an alternative ventilator for COVID-19 patients, in order to overcome the existing ventilators shortage. The goal was to build an easy to use ventilator which is disposable, low-cost, and made from existing parts that are available in large quantities. Electronic control was required in order to allow the patient to determine his own respiratory rate and to alert of malfunctions and respiratory failures. The team was supported by Assuta hospital and other companies.
